IBJR Reaffirms Commitment to Regulation and Responsible Gaming Practices

The Brazilian Institute for Responsible Gaming (IBJR), which represents the leading gaming and betting operators in Brazil, is reaffirming its commitment to transparency, responsibility, and regulatory compliance across all its operations. With members accounting for roughly 70% of the country’s betting market, all IBJR affiliates have already submitted their formal licensing applications, showing their dedication to aligning with legal requirements and operating within a well-regulated framework.

As part of this commitment to safer practices, IBJR operators, in consultation with the Ministry of Finance, have voluntarily decided to stop accepting credit cards as a payment method on their platforms. While credit card deposits make up only about 0.5% of customer transactions, this move is designed to reduce financial risks and provide users with a more secure and responsible experience.

IBJR firmly believes that regulation is the most effective and necessary way to address these challenges, ensuring the protection of consumers and the integrity of the market. As the leading association in the sector, we’re fully prepared to collaborate with the government to find solutions that meet both public and private interests. To this end, we are arranging meetings with government bodies like the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Central Bank, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Social Development. These discussions will focus on effective ways to mitigate potential risks associated with gaming and betting, while also sharing valuable data and insights to foster a better understanding of the industry.

Our goal is to ensure that the sector is regulated fairly, balancing the protection of consumers with the continued development of a healthy and competitive market.
